Course Description

When Edgar Allan Poe passed away in 1849 at the  age of 40, he left behind a substantial body of fiction and non-fiction that posthumously cemented his status among the great writers of the American Renaissance. Join us for a discussion on the art, style, and philosophy of Poe’s classic short stories, including The Tell-Tale Heart, The Fall of the House of Usher, and The Cask of Amontillado. We will examine these and other short narratives in the context of the Romantic Movement in American literature.
