Course Description

We will discuss the 2024 presidential election, the dynamics of normal election cycles, and the extent  to which 2024 breaks from patterns by pitting two presidents against each other in a hyper-polarized nation. We will address economics, presidential approval, and congressional coattail effects since whoever wins will be unable to do much without Congress. We will also address the precedent of  2020 and questions of what happens if and when  the results are contested in a period of hyperpolarization and media echo chambers.
