Beautiful paintings and sculptures by the Impressionist artist, Degas, depict his family’s wealth and then financial decline. Degas came from a banking family, and when their assets fell, he blamed the Rothschilds and other Jewish bankers. Explore the simultaneous development of the case against Dreyfus and how Degas turned against his closest Jewish friends. Further on, notable cultural leaders in Paris who supported and opposed Dreyfus are mentioned. Learn about the end stages of the case against Dreyfus and finish with mention of his granddaughter’s murder in Auschwitz.
