Course Description

Is "the news" of 2025 the same as The Press of 1791?  Is all news of equal value and "breaking"? Is there a conflict between the Press wanting to tell the story and the right to privacy of the individual who is the center of the story?  We will examine First Amendment language found in the U.S. Constitution and review landmark cases as our guides. Finally, we will survey selected current events to see if this right remains the same today as in the past.
