Course Description

Leo Strauss is best known as a political philosopher and a commentator on the works of great thinkers such as Plato, Xenophon, Machiavelli, and others. However, he was also a profound student of Jewish philosophy and theology, writing prolifically on subjects as diverse as Genesis, Zionism, and what it means to be Jewish in the modern age. In this course, we will read essays by Strauss that explore how the study of Jewish thought can help us understand some of the deepest problems we face today.

Reading will be provided before the course
