Course Description

Israel’s conflicts with its Arab neighbors dominated the first quarter-century of its history but later gave way to decades of diplomacy. It took 17 years for the second Arab League nation, Jordan, to sign a peace treaty with Israel, and several more followed, culminating in the Abraham Accords. Today, Israel is even on the verge of normalization with Saudi Arabia. This course will trace the evolution of Israel’s relations with its Arab neighbors, placing them in the context of its foreign policy and domestic objectives.
