Course Description

How do we build a robot that understands how you’re feeling and responds with care? In this talk, I’ll share ongoing research from my lab, whose mission is to develop emotionally supportive robotic companions. We’ll revisit models of emotion and see how they’re used to guide robot behavior and interaction. Finally, we’ll look ahead to the future of emotionally intelligent machines and discuss the ethical, social, and practical implications of building robots that not only think but feel, or at least appear to.
