Course Description

Join us for this critical and timely opportunity to learn about the legal landscape and what it means for immigrants today. Immigration rights in the U.S. are shaped by complex federal laws, but state and local policies also play a key role—especially in Ohio. Immigrants, regardless of status, are entitled to certain constitutional protections; yet access to services like healthcare, education, and driver’s licenses often depends on legal status and location. From sanctuary cities to 287(g) agreements, enforcement and support vary widely. This timely and important session will explore how immigration policy impacts individuals and communities in Ohio.

This lecture is in collaboration with the Maltz Museum as a supplement to the El Sueño Americano/The American Dream exhibit.
