Course Description

The vibrant role of Jews in Renaissance Italy is revealed through their active participation in philosophy, science, and literature. Far from merely imitating Christian thinkers, Jewish scholars engaged deeply with humanist ideas while preserving Jewish identity and tradition. Participants will study selected texts, examine interactions with Christian intellectuals, and explore life in the Italian ghettos, highlighting how Jews navigated cultural integration and religious resilience during a transformative era in European history.
