Course Description

Israel publishes more books per capita than any other country, and its writers have won international recognition, including the Nobel Prize for Literature and the Man Booker International Prize. This class explores three short stories by some of Israel’s most gifted writers—Amos Oz, Savyon Liebrecht, and A.B. Yehoshua. Each story sheds light on a different facet of the Israeli experience, giving us a unique window into the culture, history, and mindset of the Jewish homeland.

Reading materials will be provided prior to class and will be available in both English and Hebrew.
