Course Description

Explore the haunting and thought-provoking short stories of Franz Kafka, with particular focus on A Report to an Academy. Through the voice of an ape who becomes “human,” Kafka raises unsettling questions about identity, conformity, freedom, and what it means to belong. Participants will engage closely with selected stories, examining themes of alienation, transformation, and the pressures of modern life. No prior background is required—only curiosity and a willingness to reflect. Together, we will consider why Kafka’s work remains so powerful and relevant in today’s world of shifting identities and social expectations.
