Course Description

In this lecture, we will examine a wide variety of images created by children throughout Europe during the Holocaust, showing their wishes and memories. Many children drew paintings of their homes and family gatherings, while a few recorded actual atrocities and illnesses. The works made by children in hiding or separated from their parents reveal fantasies as well as actual sights they saw. The drawings and paintings all of these children left behind serve as unique historical documents of what needs to be seen, discussed, and remembered.
