Course Description

Shakespeare’s unforgettable characters and plots gained strength through the added contribution of great opera composers. Stories about an aged king, a bereaved prince, a jealous Moor, a Jewish money lender, and lovers in conflict with their feuding families, remain relevant centuries later. This course combines an appreciation for Shakespearean operas along with the history of Jews during Shakespearean England.
